Not long ago an excellent act was passed, entitling settlers to "tree-claims" not exceeding 160 acres, for which patents would be issued at the end of eight years, provided that a certain area had been planted in trees, tree-seeds or cuttings, and that there were a certain number of living and thrifty trees to each acre.
